Keith was born in Kansas and lived in Oklahoma and California as a child and settled in Colorado. From 1981 to 1995 - during the height of the Cold War - he was employed as a contractor to the intelligence community. He then accepted leadership positions for software firms during the Dot Com era, followed by a senior management position in aviation.
Nobles is an avid outdoorsman and motorcyclist. In addition to writing, he manages the business page for a newspaper. Keith is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and speaks often on Indian rights and history.
